The first thing I need to say: this is a SERIOUS piece of furniture, obviously created by skilled craftsmen (or better quality computerized milling equipment than I’ve seen to date!) Not a stray splinter, ding, or poorly fit joint anywhere; and you need to understand that because of the fine-grained teak used, the 24” stool is DARNED HEAVY. The adjusting foot pads work perfectly, too; a couple twists of one pad and the bench sat rock-solid on our walk-in shower’s sloping floor.After putting it together, maybe 15 minutes… I wasn’t in any rush… as I was admiring the high quality my only thought was how dingy the color was… then I began to rub in the same oil I use on my American maple wood counter where I knead bread… lo and behold the most gorgeous and deep reddish-brown color and stunning grain appeared! Anybody who opts for allowing water to bleach out this wood will be doing the bench - and themselves - a real disservice. Oh, in the shower the bench effortlessly sheds soap and water like a duck!I am in my mid-70s and haven’t seen this quality of teak furniture since browsing the high-end furniture stores in Hong Kong and Kowloon back in 1982. Most teak furniture you found then - and now - is made from cut-up Chinese junks, full of salt with the oils long since stripped away by the ocean and unforgiving tropical sun. These benches are an example of what the top grade teak furniture looked like 40+ years ago.Kudos!
